Hi Guest, as your friend's bitch has already come into season she has left it *much too late* to be looking for a compatible stud dog :( There are lots of threads on here regarding first time breeding and as your friend doesn't have computer access perhaps you could print off some of the detailed advice on her behalf - there are a great many downsides to breeding of which she may not be aware ;)
Suggest that she contacts the breeder of her bitch and discusses what health tests are required for the breed and, depending on satisfactory results of same, which lines combine best with her breeding and narrow it down then to which individual dogs in those lines would compliment the bitch. While obtaining the tests, awaiting their results and gathering detailed information from a mentor in the breed it would be in your friend's interests to join the Breed Club and get hold of any breed specific literature on her breed. Also as the owner of an entire bitch she should have a copy of "The Book of the Bitch" which is a fundamental read for anyone considering breeding. There are several others which will be of use too but no doubt the breeder of her bitch will be happy to advise her.
Regards, Teri :)
