I am so fed up, every single toy a buy for my lab is destroyed within the first half an hour she has them, ropes are torn and chewed to shreds, fluffy things are out of the question, plastic - no point even trying, squeaky ones are destroyed.  The only thing that I can give her that has lasted are her kongs and Nylabones (which she is not so keen on).  Can anybody suggest some good strong toys for labradors.
Thanks so much
Van

ha ha sorry I had to smile when I read your post.  Henry is the same he can't be trusted with anything!  Even toys that say "bombproof" on them don't lasy 2 minutes with Henry!

Chest of drawers or some skirting board or a wall normally keep my lot entertained ! :p :p

I think kongs are the best thing to use as have tried and tested most toys and all pretty much desructable in a Labradors paws ;) :D

......Or a sofa as that is quite a challenge and will keep the little rascals entertained for hours :D :D

I have exactly the same problem with Lennon (JSI).  He had a fluffy rabbit this morning for 8 minutes, by which time it was gutted and it's squeaker removed, thank you very much.  All "toys" are systematically mullered beyond all recognition.  Even tennis balls have all the fuzz removed.....fortunately, having bought the expensive ones (£4) to start with, I now get the ones in our local Pound Shop and don't feel quite so bad LOL :D :D :D

My labs are quiet partial to a kitchen cupboard door! and the washer door and not forgetting the tumble dryer fluff collector.....

Am I the only owner of a lab who has been just about perfect while in the house (she did chew when she lived outside)  and NOT really interested in toys???
The only thing she done the other day was steal my Book of the bitch when i went to the loo!!!! I feel so lucky!!!

Goat,

There's something called a Boomer ball that your lab should not be able to chew.   I bought one for my Cairn, who has enormous teeth and destroys most toys in seconds. He loves footballs, but they don't last long.   So I actually bought the largest size Boomerball for him - he spends all of his time trying to bite through it and has not managed.

One warning though, Boomerballs are hard - don't do like I did and try to kick it if you value your toes.  :-)

My labs destroyed everything except kongs and a cube that you put treats in but that just drove me potty as it richoched (SP?) off of the skirting.

I would suggest getting friendly with your butcher and getting them some lamb ribs or similar, keeps them quite for a while and is MUCH cheeper (mine are free) than nylabones.

mine likes the pulls on wardrobes, shoes, socks, in fact most items of clothing she is very partial to wandering around with bits of underwear in her mouth.  I might give the boomer ball a try and of course the bones.

I wasnt too worried that Hook ate the knobs on the kitchen units - until I went to replace them - they were £15 each and he had eaten about 10 of them :o

...and it was at that point in training our labs that I decided that the best "toy" so far as I was concerned would be ........ a crate :D :D :D

Puppy is quite happy, gnawing away on a beef knuckle (big dogs can't pinch it :D )

and my furniture stays fine :D

My sheltie is the same its not just labs - I have never seen a dog get through toys so quickly, luckily he loves nylabone type things and they keep him amused for a while - stuffed toys are gone in 5 mins, anything with a squeak is destroyed - He is ok with balls as long as they are no inflatable as they get popped - He really loves his treat ball he hasnt destroyed that

Hi,  you made me laugh.....have the same problem!  Kitchen chairs and tables, electric cables, telephone wires, walls, stones!  What doesn't a lab chew!  Hard rubber things seem to have them confused though, you know those really hard rubber balls, kongs ect, which when throw knock you out, they survive!  There are hard white marrow bones that have meat inside keep them entertained too.  Best of luck.  Its a good job their personalility makes up for it though.

The best toys are latex, dont know why but they are the only ones my labs dont chew,we have a problem with Annie our 14 month old lab at the moment, the post man keeps putting treats trough the letter box so of course Annie thinks its a wonderful game as she also starts running around with the mail and it takes me ages to catch her.

Hi

I think a lab will chew anything given the chance. all my woodys toys are distroyed, bar the kong, and treat ball. the ball drives me insaned, cause he treats it like a bull dozer, and rams it at anything he can.

Gardens woody loves gardens My garden, pre woody, was beautiful people used to stop and comment on it. Now they stop and ask what has happened to it. Oh its been woodyised i reply.
I have not got, 1 single plant, shrub tree left. And he regularly try going to australia. Now hes discovered. That if someone goes out the garden, He aint being left behind. And hurdles all the fences between gardens.

Neighbours start peering out of windows, wondering what on earth that big brown thing is, that just gone past him

The solution, the biggest bones you can get from buthchers. keeps him occupied for hours :D
