Hi is there anyone who can give me some accurate advice. i know someone collecting a fawn doberman puppy they have been told the white on the chest will grow out. and it also has bright blue eyes.  it is a fawn.  i have been asked to find out if this is correct.  she has been told it is a show specimen.  im not so sure, but i could be wrong.  i thought they had to all have brown eyes  and No white whatsoever.  its a very touchy subject so i need to be well informed, befor she pays well over the odds for a pet. although she is not looking for show dog, she is planning on breeding her.  can the white not be passed on!!  like i said im not informed enough to give her the advice she needs.
Many thanks in advance.

Certainly in the UK neither Fawns or Blues are likely to do anything in the showring.

Most breeders would avoid producing these colours as they generally have very poor coats and often end up with balding areas which are unattractive and a cause of problems for the dogs.

Unfortunately there are also partially albinistic dobes which were imported from the USA and are undesireable and they and their descendants are specially identified by both the UK and American Kennel clubs to help reputable breeders avoid poluting the gene pool with this mutation that is linked to health problems.

Some of these are also producing Fawn pups so I would tell your freind to go very careful.

A dobe with any white on would not be show potential at all, and considered to be mismarked.

You're right, the eyes should not be bright blue. The Breed Standard says that the eye colour in the browns, blues or fawns should blend with the markings, but not be of a lighter hue than the markings. I'd be very concerned that the blue eyes could be an indication of serious health problems, linked either with a degree of albinism and the associated problems, or a lack of hearing.

Certainly white markings are highly undesirable. This pup is purely pet quality and from your description should never be bred from The eye colour alone determines that.
