A roughly 8 week old Rottweiler should eat what quantity and frequency of standard (pedigree) puppy food?  I'm sure pedigree may not be the best meal at the moment and pup is seeing the vet first thing Tuesday momrning, so please just a basic outline for now.

Thank you

Sorry cant give you amounts, but arent there feeding guidelines on the back of the pack?

For anyone to give you a decent feeding estimate you will have to provide the weight of your dog :)

May i ask why this question is so urgent ? :)

Thank you Frodo, haven't bought the puppy food yet so couldn't remember if guidelines were on the back (been 7 years since I had a puppy) stupid associate announced he is collecting a puppy this evening that he bought from a lady at a market. She said she wanted £400 and he offered her £100 and she has accepted.  We all know this not a good scenario but that's the way it is I'm afraid.  He knows I have 2 dogs and has asked me for some help on feeding and despite having 2 dogs myself, including one we rescued when brought to our pub, I can't remember the puppy stages very well.  I just need to give him advice for the next couple of days until he gets it straight to the vets on Tuesday.  I have also told him that it may well not turn out to be a Rottweiler.  Just need to make sure it's alright until the vet can give him some advice.  Also told him about Gwen Bailey's book.

Thank you again.

:(

He'll need 4 feeds a day - I would say be guided by the amount he has been having, but who knows how he's been reared if he's for sale at a market.

What is very important is that he shouldn't be switched from one food to another - any dietry change should be done very gradually with any dog - but especially with a young pup.

ok, thanks.  He has no idea what the pup has been fed on (and actually doesn't have the pup yet, collecting it at 6.30pm this evening) I will tell him to feed the pup as per guidlines on the back of the puppy tin 4 times a day.

Thanks for the help.

If he doesn't have any idea what the pup has been fed then a little Bio Yoghurt (few teaspoons) mixed in with the food will help keep the pups tummy settled ;) no need for flavouring or sugar in it - just straight Bio Yoghurt.  Never known it fail yet :)

Good advice Dill - :)

This will help the pups digestive system. Hope he's ok. :)

I am afraid I have still not caught up with him and I understand he has recently been sacked so may possibly have moved.  Thanks all for the advice and if I do catch up with him will post progress.
