Hi all,

I'll try and keep this short and sweet.

I have a young male, who came back to his breeder from a pet home, and then came to me.  He is a lovely looking lad, and I have high hopes for his future in the show ring.
He's done well up to yet, my only concern is, he seems to have scraped some of the enamel off his two front teeth.  If I run my fingers across them I can feel a dent, and where the enamel has gone, his teeth look dirty.
I've no idea how this has happened. 
Is there any way of cleaning them, or do you think they are permanently stained now?
At the last show we were at, the judge, said he shouldn't be faulted as it isn't an actual dentition problem, however, it would obviously be better if his teeth were 'clean'
I'd be grateful if any of you could recommend anything or give me any ideas.

Just for your interest really, stained teeth and damaged enamel can be caused by the dog having had distemper as a pup. I'm not at all sure if it is possible to do anything about it (whatever the cause) but I would ask the vet's opinion.

All i can suggested is giving him some marabones to chew on a couple of times a week and see it this helps remove the stains.  Also my two westies teeth were terrible until i changed their diet around and fed more natural foods like tripe, chicken wings etc.  Now their teeth are sparkling white i can't believe the turn around.
