I was unsure where to post this message but feel it is specifically for breeders so have chosen this topic. I have seen some posts referring to suspect emails from people wanting to buy puppies and wonder who may have seen an article entitled Puppy bait on page 3 of the latest edition of Dog World (if you want to read it, it is at the bottom next to ad for Nutro). It tells of conmen based mostly in Africa or Middle East who target breeders with bogus requests for puppies, earn their trust by exchanging emails and then send a cheque for one or more puppy(ies). But the cheque is for a substantail amount of money and the breeder is then asked to refund the differnece so the money can be used to buy food and other puppy items, They tell the breeder they will pay the outstanding amount in cash upon collectoin. Cheque bounces and seller is hundreds of punds out of pocket. The article reports that the emails are written in poor English butseem legitimate. I am sure I, like many others would be suspect, but people do fall for it so I wonder how authentic it all seems at the time.

Hi Dachsie Lad, yes, It is a big problem. Quite a lot of us on Champdogs have had these e-mails in the past. There is only one thing to do with these e-mails. Delete them. DO NOT REPLY TO THEM.
