Try reading this, but a blood transfusion may be the only way. Antibiotics will only help if secondary infection is apparent, ie phneumonia.

Found it. Written by Staffie Lover 13.03.04 can't get it to link so have just cut and paste the posing
BEEF LIVER REMEDY FOR FADING PUPPIES

Thanks but only did what anyone else would do. Shirley sorry for calling you Sheila earlier. :)
Christine, I should have left a little list, you are so tired.
Liver liquid, give each pup 1ml every 2/3hours, before bottle feed
Keep pups covered until body temp stabilises
Pups wont suck if cold, use the hairdryer before each feed
Try and give 4 pups at a time to Pepsi, make sure they stay warm
Rotate 4 pups at a time, they need to try and feed from Pepsi to keep the milk coming, if they wont suck, try and express some milk from her just to keep the flow going
Try and feed the weakest 2 as often as poss. even if it is only 1ml every half hour, put them under hairdryer first. this should help them suck
Try in between meals to give them 1 or 2mls of warm water, just a tiny amount of sugar, this will help rehydrate them.
Feed them warmed Welpi, the warm feed will help stabilise the body temp from the inside out
Make up bottles of milk and keep in the fridge to save you time, made up welpi will keep for 24hours, just microwave.
Get some goats milk
S*d the housework, get some sleep
Oh nearly forgot, Pepsi and pups are gorgeous :D :D

Kay and Spaniel Mad - your dedication to this bitch and her pups is very moving - I applaud you for your swift actions to help PM, Pepsi and the babies, whilst the rest of us, too far away, can only read via posts in awe.

You're a star Kay :) I know dog folk always do their best to round up when needed - but what you did was extra special. Bless you.
Prayers ongoing for all the pups, Pepsi, her Mum and of course, her Angel ;)
Luv Teri x
Words can not say how greatful I am to everyone once again on CD. You all keep me going. I will never be able to repay what shirley(spaniel mad) and kay have done for me. For a complete and utter stranger to show this much kindness to a complete beginner, is unreal. I am blown away! It's not often I cry, but when I saw the post you had all posted last night, it really touched me.
We managed to keep the pups going last night by constant feeding and also giving them the liver juice and this morning the vet will come again to help me get them re-hydrated. Most of them will take the bottle but a few are finding it a bit of a struggle. I will keep trying my best and pray to god they come through this. Many thanks. christine x
Christine, I am praying like mad for the pups, pepsi and you with tears in my eyes. I pray that God will spare these little ones, pepsi's mastitis will stablise and go away and for you to have the strengh and faith that you can pull through this. I have had boxer babies and know how worrying it can be when the little ones get sick. God bless you and everyone who has helped. Aimix
What a post! Kay you truely are a star and people like you are special. It is horrible reading posts like this and not being able to do anything, makes you feel so useless. I have tears in my eyes just reading it, from sadness and the from the pure kindness and unselfishness of Kay and Spaniel Lover.
All my love and best wishes goes out to Pepsi and pups and of course Christine. Fingers crossed for them all. xxx
I have just read this post this morning, and what a post it is.
{{{{hugs}}} to pepsi mum and puppies.
I cant believe the kindness of everyone, dont get much of that theses days.
I only wish i could have been some help too, Feel so helpless being so far away.

Good luck pepsi and pups, we're all thinking of you! xx
Hi Pepsimum,
I am in awe of the kindness shown on here!!! How are things going does anyone know?? I am keeping things crossed here, and if it was a matter of goodwishes surely they would all be fine, the amazing amount of kindness and good will from everyone on cd is beyond words.
I am thinking of you, we are on day 57/60 and its my worst nightmare Good luck pepsimum and of course pepsi and the little ones.
Lilly
Hya. You'll have to escuse the spelling on this post as I'm getting slightley knackered!(I mean tired)! The vet came this morning again and she reckoned they looked perkier than yesturday. She had'nt expected the white one to still be here, but he is! He must be a fighter. We have been given more antibiotics, powder for re-hydration and of course, more whelpie. Pepsi has started to clean them again herself, so I think that's a good sign. All are looking less like a bag of rags and more like little plump puppies. I will go now as they are due their liver juice. christine x

Very best wishes.

Hi Pepsi Mum
So pleased to hear there's some improvement in your pups, I hope they all pull through and of course poor Pepsi gets better very soon, I think all of the help and encouragement you have been given by everyone is fantastic, what a great crowd they all are, its lovely to realise there are such good people out there. I have watched with great interest all the postings of all the darlings having their litters, but I am terrified about when my little yorkie has hers. She is on day 57 and is going to have a c/s I hope, but the vet will not do it until she actually starts, so that he knows the pups are ready to be born, her sister who is owned by my son and his wife had her puppies yesterday on day 58, such a worrying day, she started pushing after giving no signs at all that she was having them, no panting, no fidgetting about making beds, just lay in her bed as normal, and just produced one within about 10 mins after realising she was pushing, luckily my son made a good midwife, as his wife was panicking, then an hour later no 2 and no 3 an hour after that, but all then stopped and had to have c/s in the end poor thing after all her work, as vets injections never worked. Four more puppies but 2 were dead, so finished up with 5 live ones, which at the moment thank god are all fine. But we are both going to get some liver just in case. I will be checking regularly to see how you get on wth all your little pups and Pepsi, first thing I do in the morning check the postings and always before I go to bed, and in between of course I,m addicted to this site, will be thinking of you best of luck Cath H.

hiya christine, pleased to hear pups are hanging in there, pepsi will soon begin to be feeling better again, can i say a huge thanks to kay for taking the time to go see christine during the night & staying till after dawn helping her with the puppies, just shows the support & help that someone will give to someone a complete stranger in their time of need, a true star if there is 1, i myself will be calling on christine later this evening when i finish work to offer any help with feeding etc i possibly can do for her & her puppies, all the postings on this thread just proves how everyone is rallying round to ofer support & advice for christine, having just caught up on all the posts here can i say i was reduced to tears too, christine is so overcome with emotion everyone is showing to her with all the support you are all giving her, we are all rooting for you christine & pray pepsi's puppies hang on in there, you are doing a great job xxxx

christine i have found you a foster mum if you are interested, she has puppies a few week old but still has loads of milk & her puppies are off mum now & on solids, i know this lady very well, only trouble is she is in edinburgh & would mean a drive for you up there, have tried to ring you but guess your either online or on the phone, see you soon she is an english springer
By Isabel
Date 20.05.05 16:45 UTC

That is very kind of you but I would caution that if the lady in Edinburgh still has her pups they could be at risk of infection if another litter is brought in.

this litter in edinburgh is now off mother & on solids & would not be anywhere in the vicinity near the pups of pepsi if she took them in, i know what you are saying though & suppose any help will be greatly recieved by christine
By kayc
Date 20.05.05 17:40 UTC
Oooh, I really have to say I am with Isabel on this one. Under reasonably normal circumstances, ie good strong healthy pups, but mother no milk, then I would be inclined to use a foster mum. BUT in this instance, these pups are very weak and will be very prone to the slightest infection, which could kill very quickly. Pepsi does have milk, unfortnately not enough because of the mastitis, but if Christine keeps putting the pups onto Pepsi, as the pups become stronger they will suckle, and the milk will begin to flow freely, It is Christines decision however, and a very difficult one for her to make. Christine, my thoughts are with you and I do hope, with all my heart that they pull through, I am sure they will, they are little fighters.
