Most people I know change their dogs onto adult food at about 6 months of age.

According to Burns puppy guide you can feed small/medium breeds on puppy food until they are a year old or change them to adult at 6 months. If you contact them direct they are very helpfull :-)  How old is your pup and is it a Border Collie or a rough/smooth collie?

We had Idõ on the Burns mini bites until he was about 4 months then we switched to the Canine Extra which he will be on until he's about 18 months then we'll put him on the adult, which is what the girls het.
Hope this helps, this is what his breeder suggested and it seems to have donw the trick with the two pups she kept from the litter before Idõ :)
