Indigo never stops :D She is 19 months old and is on the go for most of the day both at home and nursery  :D

Today she was up at 7am and has not had a sleep all day ! She was outside at 8am and it has been like that for most of the day ! Just got her off to bed, phew :D even the dogs struggle to keep up with her ! :D

Flo however was never such an active child, still isn't now :D She is urging on the sloth like :D

So why couldn't it have been the other way round so at my tender age now of 38 I could have had an easier life :p

LOL Lucy.... my 2 are the same, i have a boy aged 8 and a girl aged 6.

On friday night....i thought that i would let them stay up until 11.30pm, then that hopefully would mean that i could have a little lie in on Saturday morning..... but NO my daughter still came and woke me up at 6am like she always does.

So really, it doesn't matter what time i put them to bed they still get up at the same time every morning.

We babysat our little grand-daughter, Cassie, yesterday, so tht Dad could take Mum out for her birthday (Cassie's big sister was at another birthday party & having a sleepover).

So, we arrived, mid-afternoon, so that Cassie could remember us (we see her every month or so - and at nearly 2, we can soon forget ;) )
However, she remembered that the last time we saw her it was Gramps birthday - so we had a rendition of 'Appy Birfdy to you/Twinkle twinkle ickle star - it really is surprising how those two merge into one after six or ten times :D - and demands for more/more/more stories - and she had to look in the car, to see if we hadn't brought a doggie or a puss-cat to see her!

Eventually, Dad & Mum went out (had to sneak out the back door/over the fence & through next-door's to get out) - and Cassie was quite happily ensconsed, playing babies/reading with Granny'n'Grumps.   She fell asleep, in Grumps arms (was he chuffed at that or what!) - and I managed to get her into bed.   Left the baby alarm on, and had only one squeaking session, when she lost her Nyum-nyum (dummy) - but clever granny was all set with another, ready to plug in, so she didn't even wake properly!

Mum & Dad's first real evening out since she was born.... little Madam has generally screamed herself witless & they have been summonsed home before!   (Granny huffs on nails & polishes them on shirt ;) ) - so Granny & Grumps will be on babysitting duties more from now on, me thinks!!!

Apparently, this morning, as usual, at 5am, she was awake, prying open the eyes of Mum & Dad with commands - up now - no more bye-byes - 'smorning!!!  :D :D :D

I don't think I'll suggest a sleepover yet.......

Hi Lucy,

My 2 and bit yr old is also permently on the go and doesn't sleep during the day now add this to a 15 wk old that sleeps only for 20 min stints .
Out of the other 3 remaining 2 are more active the 13yr and the 8 yrold the last one the 10yr old definately not active type.
It can become manic here and in the car who needs a radio ?
There is constant chatter.
However when one or more child is away it becomes much quieter and sense of calm comes over the household, however I soon miss the liveliness, the noise and after a bit I hate the quietness. The dogs think its great because there is always someone to play with ,to make a fuss and they thrive on the buzz about the house.
There always someone to talk to ,to play a game with but by the end of each day we are whacked but it is a good healthy tiredness feeling if thats possible :-)

Briony :-)

my two year old that was always on the go waking up at 5 or 6 singing at the top of his voice has turned into a 6year old that still wakes up at the crack of dawn singing old mac donald or something loud and always at the top of his voice

My nearly 8 year old sleeps for 10 hours a night minimum - but once he's up and about, you know it!!!  He's actually worse when he's tired or hungry, and we've found that as long as we feed him before activites like Beavers and Swimming, he's fine (no 'challenging' behaviour), but if his blood sugar levels drop, he's a nightmare!!

Be thankfull. My brother in law, now in his late 30s has NEVER slept more than 4 hours in any 24. I can only begin to imagine how his mum coped with 2 other small children at the same time with having to be up half the night with that one. She says that she is just greatful that he learnt to read quite early and could be persuaded most times to read by himself.

Ok, you're all frightening me now.

I'm planning on having a baby as soon as possible (god willing) and now I'm starting to wonder why?!  Any good points anyone?!

Oh yes- the feeling of a sleepy baby cuddling into you - the gummy grins, the waking up arms out to you - they come with the package as well as the smelly nappies!

The sleeping baby is the best bit - I could just look at them for ever (particularly my son who would only sleep in his cot, until he was over a year :D )

My first never seemed to sleep but Bronwyn is now 4 and can have 3hrs in the afternoon and still go to bed for 6:30 and not get up till 7 next morning whereas Matthew can stil cope on about 7hrs sleep and he is one of the most active children I know.
