Good evening all

Another question for you - from the day a bitch has been mated how long is it before one knows she is pregnant - how long does the fertilisation process take?

I've read a few GSD books, they talk about mating, and preparing for the 64-65 day term...so does that mean from mating through to conception, 64 to 65 days is the total estimate? Or are they skipping the fertilisation timing process out all together?

Many thanks

No, when they say from mating to term, they mean to full-term - ie from mating to birth of the litter .... 63 days is average.

Pregnancy can usually be detected by scanning or a skilled palpator at about 28 days.

Excellent, thanks Jean. So here's hoping Fern will be 63 days away then :)
