Hi
I've just started my 2 on raw diet. I am using the free flow mince from AMP. I wondered how Landywoods compare to AMP. or are they about the same. I noticed Landywoods do a mince & veg mix, also meaty rib bones (lamb). Hope someone can help.
Thanks
Wendy

I use the AMP but apparently so i'm told it is cheaper to buy from landywoods but they aren't available to my area so i never compared.
I know a huge lot of people that do and are very satisfied with them.

Mygirl
Thanks for your reply too. Landywoods do deliver to my area once a month, but £50 minimum order is way too much for me. So hopefully, there might be someone out there in E.Yorkshire who would like to split the amount (even 3 ways) or whatever. Otherwise, I will have to stay with the other company.
Many thanks
Wendy

Hi Wendy

I switched from AMP to Landywoods last summer & there is definitely a big difference :-)  First is the price which is always a good one!!  Secondly, I found that AMP had become very watery when defrosted & also the bone content is lower.  Also, if you take a look at AMP's ingredients listings, Ash is now listed which I can't quite work out as it's supposed to be raw, unprocessed food?? (can't do the question smiley?)

Depending on where you live will depend on whether Landywoods deliver to you & also your minimum order amount so it's worth getting in touch with them & they may be able to put you in touch with someone to order share with.  I'm lucky as I only live 20 miles away so collect mine (which reduces the price a bit more!).

Good luck :-)

Hi
Thanks for your reply. Yes they do deliver to my area E.Yorkshire but like you say you have to order minimum amount, which is way too much for me, I only have 2 small dogs. So if there's anyone in the E.Yorkshire area who wants to share the amount they deliver that would be great!!!! lucky you living near them and being able to collect it. Have you tried the meaty rib bones, I'd like to try my 2 with those, if I manage to get a delivery that is. So many thanks for your reply, it was much appreciated.

Hi again Wendy

Yes I've had the meaty rib bones & my lot love them :-)  One tip though as you have smaller dogs, ask that they be cut down into say 6" pieces or else they are HUGE!!  I get mine cut down so I know they can do it ;-)

Are you a member of BritBarf?  If not then it may be worth you joining as you'll no doubt find plenty of others on there in your area that will be happy to order share with you :-)

Hi Borderpride
Think I will have to keep with AMP, unless there's some others that want to split the order. One thing I was confused about. The AMP is in 2kg bags freeflow, which is good. I just measure it out into 2 meal freezer bags (2 dogs) adding veggies, then just put them all in freezer, taking a meal out per day. But I'm told that the Landywoods is in 1lb blocks not freeflow, so don't know how I would be able to  sort their meals out that way?? Excuse me for being thick!!! I'm new to this raw feeding (2 weeks) My 2 pooches are really enjoying their food, licking their dishes clean and chasing them round the kitchen, I would have liked to have tried the meaty lamb ribs though.
Thanks
Wendy

Hi Wendyd
I live in Yorkshire and might be interested in sharing a delivery if we can get someone else involved, as I also only have two dogs who don't have big appetites. Plus I don't have a lot of freezer space at the moment. I am also using AMP but I also get quite a lot from our local Sainsbury's. Especially if things are reduced :) They actually do packs of fresh lamb for stewing which includes rib bones, shanks and scrag end neck bones. You could always get one of those if you want to try the rib bones. Mine love all of them in the pack. I know its prob. not as cheap as AMP but it is human consumption grade, and it gives you chance to try it.

Hi Anne
Thanks for the info, will have to have a trip to Sainsbury's, only have a Tesco here. Yes it would be good if we could get anyone else interested to share a delivery in E.Yorks. Anyone out there interested?????? In the meantime I will use AMP like you.
Thanks again

Your's may like the lamb shanks which you can by on their own, about £2.50 for two. Mine adore them and there is plenty of meat on them :)
I'm sure Tesco's will have similar packs of bony meats. I also get chicken legs and wings from supermarket. In packs of about 12 for about £1.50. As I said mine don't eat a lot really so I don't mind paying a bit more. At least I know its human consumption quality. Sometimes you can get real bargains as well, when they have things reduced because they are near the sell by date :D I love that
what breed do you have?

Hi Anne
I looked in our Tesco last week, couldn't see any Lamb ribs. I will look out for the shanks though this week-end when I go in. I got them some chicken wings Gyllie happily chomped on his no problem, Ellie on the other hand, didn't know what to do with it, and carried it around most of the day, so I ended up throwing it away. I don't mind paying that bit more either, like you say. I made a big batch up the other night, chicken and lamb mince with carrot, brocoli, swede and cabbage, which I wizzed in the food processor and then mixed in. It's great to see them chasing their dishes round the kitchen. So any other tips will be much appreciated, being new to this raw feeding, I'm tending to tread carefully!!! My 2 are Westies by the way, whats yours?
Bye for now

Hi WendyD,

I use AMP and got a letter last week telling me that they are now also charging £50 for a minimum order.
Just thought I'd let you know.

I don't live in your area so I can't help out there. I'm thinking of trying LandyWoods as well.

All the Best, Deirdre

Hi Deirdre
I couldn't possibly order £50 minimum order, haven't got the freezer space and I only have 2 Westies. I can get AMP from our local pet shop, so thats not a problem. I would have liked to try Landywoods, though I didn't realise the mince came in solid blocks and not free flow like AMP.
