Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / A 'Thing' fix
- By Guinness [gb] Date 14.05.05 14:46 UTC
Hi

Reading a comical article ecently in a doggy magazine that made me think of how many oddities my dog has I though I would start a thread and share them with other members.

A 'thing' fix it was called, you know the sort of when your dog has a crazy hobbey like he just has to do. Then the craze evolves into a new fixation into something new without you realising until its full on!

Our dog has been through many of these. We had to cover our sofa up with blankets at one stage as it has those bobble buttons sewn into it. Of course our dog had a fix trying to pull them off by his teeth, of course we never let this one occur.

But it evolved into the mad dash as descibed in another thread as the zoomy, from one end of the house to the other, never mind what was in the way.Fortunately it never came to a never mind who was in the way as I put a stop to it by closing a door just before the dog got to it so he slid into it with a thud, I know it sounds cruel but no harm was done as I tied a sun lounger cushion to the door with string tosoften the blow! Just incase there are any readers ready to reprimand please respect me I wouldnt harm my dog deliberately! Its a column of jest ot scorn!

This turned into a fix of 'happy hammer' a squeeky plastic dog toy in the shape of a yellow hammer with a smiley face. The dog chases around bashing eveything and everyone with it the squeking drives us insane. We hide it under the footstool but he tries to dig it up!

The list is endless and I could go on for months, he changes his fix almost weekly if not every 48 hrs and before I realise and have time to stop it theres another one on the go just as I was getting to understand the method of the rules of madness of the prefvious one!

Please feel free to add your dogs happy fixes as this is what the post intends, so we can all have a good old chuckle!

Thanks

Keep sane!

My dogs don't really do this - apart from when we first got Bramble - he chewed all the noses off the children's cuddly toys - nothing else, just the noses :D

When Echo first arrived at Manic Mansions his thing was a child size teddy known as Sexy Teddy. Whenever something weird happened - like food in a bowl appearing or someone going out/in he would rush upstairs to find his teddy and er mount it. It removed him from my leg. His latest thing is playing on the bed. I pretend to make it ( ahem) and he rolls around under the covers growling. Manic Morse used to eat Barbie feet.
