hi our 5 month old english springer spaniel `kayla` has just had to have a major operation she had really bad runs for a week and was very unsettled went of her food and the bit she did eat came back up again after several visits to the vet she was kept in and xrayed we received a phone call to say they were going to operate to save her life part of her intestine was removed and a large part of her bowel the word `intussusception` kept on being used by the vet she has now been at the vets 5 days and im missing her very much were hopeful that she will be able to come home 2morow but im very nervous about how she`ll be and finding a suitable food for her we have already been told she will not be able to have any thing other than her food no treats or anything which is going to be hard has anybody else been through this with their pup or dog

Very sorry to hear about Kayla, I know how upsetting and worrying it is when they have to have major surgery.
Before she comes home I'm sure your vet will give you advice as regards feeding etc.  Perhaps you could take a notebook and jot down what he tells you - sometimes its hard to take everything in at the time.  Also don't be afraid to ring the surgery for more advice if you need to.
Kayla is very young so, hopefully, she will adapt well to a new regime.

Best of luck :)

It is very worrying when they have major surgery and I know how upsetting it is, been there with Maddie. I too was very nervous when I could finally bring her home I wouldnt leave her side and we both slept in the front room for a week till she had the stitches out. I remember the first night, I was woken up by her licking my face at about 3 a.m and then she went and lay back down. I'm sure she was just checking she was home bless. Needless to say she was spoilt rotten with love and attention and lots of new toys.
The vet will advise you on her food which will be in smaller amounts to start with, at least that was our case, until she is fit enough
