Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / My puppy keeps being sick

Hi everyone,

I need advise regarding my basset hound puppy.

He is 3 months old and since we brought him home at 8 weeks old, we have been feeding him 4 meals a day, as advised by the breeder, with his last meal of the day being given to him at 10pm.  We usually all go to bed at 11.30 and he sleeps through till 5.30-6am, however, last week, twice I woke up at 5am after hearing him retching to find he had sicked up some of his biscuits.  We have since reduced his meals to 3 a day, increasing the amount of food we give him.  Unfortunately, for the past 3 mornings he has been sick although instead of sicking up his biscuits, it is just a clear bile.  Apart from this, he is a very happy, healthy pup who is always full of energy.

I am worried that it might be something I am doing wrong.

Advise would be much appreciated.
Many thanks

Leanne

Usually the sicking up of bile in the morning is a sign that the stomach has been empty for too long.

Try feeding him very late at night and very early in the morning this will help him.
