my 14 yr old jack has always been a fussy eater, all his life he has had episodes of eating a certain brand/type of food and really enjoying it for a few months then refusing to eat it. to date we have tried everything from barf to pedigree chum and everything in between. last summer all he would eat is soya mince. after a terrible tummy bug last xmas we managed to get him to eat again with steak mince potatoes and carrots all was  going well until this week when he stopped liking mince ive been getting by with 2 different meals every day. it is not ideal as eventually it will upset his delicate tummy. anyone have any ideas as to sommthing to add to food to make it irrisitable or somthing to give him to make him more hungry. he has tried all the prescription food and hates it the most. as he is diabetic he has to eat 2x daily no matter what  but  the vet did say that as long as he eats it does not matter too much as he is well controled and at 14 he should be enjoying himself as much as his sensitive digestion will let him.

During the last couple of months of my 15 yr olds live I had difficulties persuading her to eat despite not having been a fussy dog in the past.  I tried all sorts but amongst those that she found interesting, for a while :), were Chappie, Butchers tripe, those little square packs with the Westie on that I forget the name of, Supermarket own little square packs, Pal chunks in gravy, I suppose generally anything with a strong taste and smell I could not interest her in anything like cooked chicken or mince.  Of course a lot of these things are rubbish but I think for the geriactrics who are not going to eat anyway you just have to give them anything they will enjoy.  Although all her life she suffered from bouts of colitis she seemed to manage small quantities of all these without too much difficulty.  I topped it off with a Pfizer pet tab popped down her throat daily as an extra boost of vitamins sometimes boosts the appetite.  I fear it is just a case of buying lots of variety :) when she finally passed on my cupboard looked like a pet shop
store  but there really isn't any choice is there? :)
Her appetite did improve for a while when we she was diagnosed with heart failure and started on appropriate medicine and also when we tried a new treatment for her arthrities so you could look at those sort of aspects.
