Does anyone here have experience using CSJ? I have a GSD that is skinny despite feeding him 3 meals a day (he is 10 months). Currently using Ardens Grange.
I am considering Autarky or CSJ as it was suggested they would help put weight on him.
Your opinions would be appreciated. Please note that I am not going to go down the BARF route so please do not suggest it.
Thanks

I know several people who use various forms of CSJ with good results, but they produce quite a vast range of foods from Herbie rings which are designed for workng dogs but whose main ingredient is cereal (?) which are about £12.50 for 15kgs, to a top of the range which is made from human grade salmon and is about £28 for 15kgs. Plus everything in between. If you let me know which you are thinking of using I will let you know because one of my friends has put her skinny Beardie on the one of them.

Hi Yashokumar,

I contacted them and several other companies a couple of months back when I was having problems putting weight on a youngster and found them to be very helpful and really willing to listen to what your specific problems are and then discuss in depth the various food options they have which best suit.

Visit their website http://www.csjk9.com/index.html  (lots of info on there anyway) and then email them with any questions on their products.  Can honestly say they have been the most helpful and pleasant people I've dealt with :)

Regards, Teri

I fed Autarky for a long time and found I had excellent results with it...my only problem was that my boys are extremely good doers and they put on too much weight!

a few of mine lost weight on autarky over the winter, we have our 5 adult dogs now on that'll do and herbie rings, and our pup is on command performance puppy food, all made by csj. They all love it, they look fantastic ( see pics of my lot on my site if you click on my name) our dogs are all lean, as we compete in agility we keep them fit, although they could easily put weight on or off, they are all dong really well of 5 months on csj food now. it's delivered too, (or can be collected at shows the local supplier may be attending) as you cant buy it in the shops (as far as im aware! )

hope it helps! i would add some pasta to it if i were trying to bulk mine up, only in small amounts a couple of times a week. so it would build them back gradually

Ingredients for the command performance puppy which the other poster said she uses

Lamb meat meal, corn, whole white rice, beet pulp, fishmeal, whole egg, whole linseed, chicken oil, herbs (marshmallow, peppermint, fenugreek, parsley, rosemary), minerals, vitamins, yucca extract, chondroitin, glucosamine sulphate & MSM.

Feeding is down to the individual.

please dont start a feeding debate, the poster asked about csj, and ive replied with MY experience of it, my dogs are all fit, healthy and enjoy their food!!!

If our dogs do well on a particular food that people dont like then surely that is our choice.

Personally I dont feed CSJ but I feed Pro Plan and my dogs have never looked better on it!  I know Chel's dogs and they look great on CSJ and I cannot see that that can be argued with.

I appreciate that everyone has an opinion but it will put people off coming on to this board and even discussing food if this is the replies that they receive.
