My 10 month old weimaraner has recently started ripping the upstairs carpet to bits! she is trying to chew the underlay (must taste nicer than the carpet!) we have put spray on it, perfume, and tabasco sauce but she is still doing it! i know it is a sign of boredom, she is rarely left for longer than a few hours and we leave her toys that challenge her etc. Its the bit under the window because she sits by the window waiting for us to come home! any tips?

Move her to an area where damage is not likely to occur such as the kitchen.  Get her used to it gradually by leaving for very short spells at first and leave a few toys.  She might actually find being able to see outside the window a bit stressful, mine always seem happier with a smaller area to safeguard.

the problem is our kitchen is tiny! when we first used to leave her we used to leave just in kitchen and dining room. she hated this, she got over 2 stairgates and opened a door just to get to our bedroom! and this was at 5 months! she seems much happier upstairs, i guess coz it smells more like us. she sleeps on our bed (even thoght she doesnt at night) so we just cover the bed and she seems pretty happy! some of the time she is waiting at window, but sometimes she is so fast asleep like today that i get upstairs before she even hears me. She definately has some separation anxiety as she cries when we leave, but this stops before we even drive off!

True SA is not that common and is an entirely overused term IMHO.

ooh thats good! yeah ive read so many posts on here about it that sound just like her so assumed it was! glad its not but how can i help her then!
