Hi! A few weeks ago i had problems with recall with my labrador cross maddie. well all seemed to be going well, iwas using a pot with treats helping to recall her and she seemed to be doing well coming everytime i called. however she has got increasingly possessive over her toys. if i let her have a ball when we are on a walk she just charges off completely ignoring any recall attempts. it is the same in the garden with her running on to the flower beds with a toy and refusing to come in. last night i was walking in a field near our home and she picked up a stick and ran off with it, not wanting to come back. then i lost her, but it just happened that she ran back home and was sat on the doorstep.Anyone any ideas??

Kat maybe if you put her on a long line inside the house, give her a toy and let her chew on it for a bit, and then get a very smelly, tasty treat and wave it under her nose, giving her a command to give you the toy. Only let her eat the treat when she gives you the toy, and then give her back the toy quickly. The idea is to get her thinking good things happen when she gives you the toy :)
Another thing you can do is get some toys that are more fun to play with together, like something on a rope that you can drag on the floor and she can chase, that way she'll know that playing with you is more fun :)
If I were you I wouldn't let her offlead until this problem has been sorted, it's too dangerous :( You could use a long line like a horse lunge lead (check ebay) and let it drag on the ground behind her, then if she starts to run off just step on it ;) Good luck.
