Topic Dog Boards / Health / dogs genital problem

i have a nine month old bulldog. he has some green pus coming out of his p*nis. the  vet tells me this is normal. also his p*nis swells up like a baloon for a minute or so every so often. it looks as though it would be painfull but sees to gve him no problem. when it swells, the base of his p*nis also has a hard bulge either side wich again only lasts for a minute or so then seems to go. am i being naive? is this his s*xual fnctions or somthing more serious that needs looking at by a vet.
thankyou in advance

Sounds perferctly normal to me too and our little man is only 5 months old :D Ah the joys of having a dog dog!!!

All perfectly normal.  My last dog, Ted, would not clean his willy at all, so every couple of months, armed with some baby wipes, I had the pleasure of doing it for him - we were very close LOL :) :D

I am so glad I just found these messages, I was going to take Kobi to the vet later in the week because he has the same thing, green crusty stuff that he cleans off every now and again, ick.

Yeah Sam is the same we have drips on the floor when he doesn't clean himself. I did ask the vet if this was normal as we have only had bitches before. I felt a bit of an idiot I should have asked you lot first.

ah thats good then. thanks. was getting quite worried, especially when his willy swells up and the base has this big hard bulge either side!!
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 10.05.05 18:58 UTC
That bulge is the bulb of his p*nis. During mating that swells and is gripped by the bitch's vag*nal muscles to create the tie.

All it means when you see that is that he's feeling 'happy'!

Sorry Admin, I didn't realise that accurate technical terms weren't allowed. Sorry you had to edit. :(

It is to discourtage visits from weirdo's searching for those words on search engines!

I have a counter on one of my webpages which is entitled 'Up Close and Personal' in other words the dogs family life as opposed to show stuff.

You can check where visitors came from to get to yoru site, and you can imagine whenece some came, not the kind of site they were seeking I bet :D

Poor Willis - as a puppy I took him to the vets for something or other. We were sat on the leather sofas waiting for our turn, in a packed waiting room where everyone was admiring the wee blue daney - when I noticed a globule of green forming on the end of his bits...

I had 2 seconds of carefully moving him off my lap (didn't want green on my trousers) without disturbing the droplet before it completely formed and splattered on the seat.

"Willis?" said the vet... off I went and left it there  :D

Ha ha, can you imagine their faces when they find themselves looking at 'Fido' snuggled up on the sofa! :D :D :D lol

Ehhh, I don't know.  What would I do without my dogs.  My Ickle Man is a very clean boy, too clean, he's at it all the time.  Dogs are nearly as bad as men checking that it's still there :d :d

I wish my Ted had shown more interest in personal hygiene LOL.  That lovely greenie/yellowie substance is know as "smeg" in our house.  Ted was affectionately known as "smeg-knob", bless him.  Oh, I miss him so......:(
