Hi everyone, bit of an odd question.
I'm due to pick up my working cocker pup in 2 weeks and have been making sure I have all the 'stuff' ready to go. I've decided that she should probably have a comforter thingy to go in her bed.
I remember when I got Kester, he destroyed all of his, and I ended up giving him an old sock stuffed with other socks to be his 'special friend', but I wondered if there was anything else I can use to fill Tizzy's toy. A friend of mine always goes to the charity shop and buys a 'new' teddy for her pups, but I'm worried that the filling may be unsuitable for cocker tummies! (She does always make sure that the eyes are sewn ones, rather than the glassy ones though!)
Any help greatly appreciated, as normal.
Cheers chaps Ali :)
Hi havent heard you for ages. Trio our boxer pup has a face flannel as a comforter :D he likes to pick up cloth and toddle into bed with it so he has one of his own. He also has some of these free at a well known burger bar cuddlies. Echo loves a tennis ball with sheep legs and head - Asdas at under £3. Doubt if anything is working cocker proof though :D
Hiya,
I did wonder about using flannels, maybe two tied together. I've looked in various places for soft dog toys, but they all seem to have squeakers in them, which I don't want.
A friend of mine suggested buying a cheap furry pencil case and filling it with old socks etc and then stitching up the zip bit. I think this could be quite a good idea.
As you say, I doubt if anything could really stand up to a working cocker on a seek and destroy mission! but I would like to have something as a bit of a back up as she will be leaving mum AND 4 other pups.
Thanks, any more ideas very welcome!!
Ali :)

Hi, I dont use toys or the like for going with my pups. A few days before they are all due to go to new home, I cut up their vetbed bedding into squares and each pup takes a peice of this with them. It has all the smells of mum and litter mates, and no fear of swallowing 'bits'. :)
Thats a really great idea. My breeder may well do that, or I can ask her to, I'm sure she won't mind!
Ali :)
My pup came home with his own "smelly blanket" which was used by the whole litter and mum. It was slightly smelly but worked, we didn't have a bad night with him at all. The first night we had no noise and never have since, he is 12 weeks now. I am sure if you ask your breeder to do this she will, or you could buy a small blanket and give it to her to put in their bed for a few days. Good luck.:-)
