I have looked at the website on Labs and have gotten some good advice but I would like to ask how much I should be looking at when buying a Lab puppy from a breeder? I am also more interested in having a Chocolate Lab but I have heard that they can be more clumsy than their Black or Golden relations - is this true? What kind of time period should I be looking at to have a Chocolate Lab instead of say, a Black Lab? Does the breeder provide me with a certificate for the puppy?

I live in the Hertfordshire area and would also like to know where there is a good training school so I can get started straightaway with the training!

Sorry about all the questions! I look forward to the answers.

Regards, Tammy

Hello

As far as i know there is no difference between the colours yellow, black or chocolate. Sorry i am not sure what you mean by a certificate for a puppy but if you mean Kennel Club registration then they should provide you with the registration papers.

Try contacting the breed club they will be able to give you the names of breeders and should be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Hi, I seem to remember that one of the major dog insurance companies published a report that stated that choc labs were the most accident prone of all dogs. Howvever that wouldn't put me off buying one because I am a total choc lab fan. I think you should expect to pay around £500. Make sure both parents have recent clear eye tests, low hip and elbow scores and that the dam has a steady temprament. All good breeders alspo insure puppies for you for a short time free of charge. make sure that both parents and the puppy are/going to be registered with The Kennel Club and not the Dog Lovers Reg Club if you want "proper" registration papers.
