We are life long dog keepers (not breeders) and have decided to get a newfoundland to become part of our family. We live in Milton Keynes, England and would be delighted to hear from a reputable breeder or owner who can point us in the right direction.

Hi I am owned by a newfoundland and they are a great breed so congratulations on picking the breed. The best place to start is to look at the newfoundland club websit www.thenewfoundlandclub.co.uk Newfoundlands need to be hip scored and heart tested (parents) as these are the health issues they have and reputable breeders only breed from dogs that have low hip scores and clear heart tests to try and ensure that any pups born do not suffer these illnesses. When I was looking for a breeder I contacted Mrs Mary Pitcher 01406 371477 and she was brilliant telling me what to look for in a breeder ect and she also sent me a pamphlet with all the information on it, both the pros and cons of being owned by a newf. It would be a good idea to visit a few shows and look at the differant newfs and talk to the owners and find out their breeding of the ones you like (everyone is very friendly). I decided on the breeder that I wanted and then asked to be placed on their waiting list (be prepared for a grilling when you visit them) six months later I had by baby girl.

Good luck in your search, if you want to contact me my e-mail is njmercer@tiscali.co.uk
