hi
i have noticed that my pup tia has lose motions this morning
i found her eating her mothers meal yesterday and i am just
wondering if thats y she has the lose motions . i am going to starve her
all day to see if this will help her ,she is ok inherself running around playing
its just the lose motions i am worried about. do you,s think i am doing the right thing
by starving her or should i just give her a little food she is 6weeks old.

I would not starve a 6week old pup. You seem to know what the cause is and I think as soon as it leaves her system she should be ok. Try a light diet today, half her normal rations or even some plain chicken (cooked).

If it continues then think about starving, but my vet gave my girl when she was small a medicine which stopped loose motions in hours as he did not think it was fair to starve a pup, and the system does have to adapt to unusual food (dogs being what they are).

Hope that helps

i wouldnt starve her ether, but if it carries on you could give her some chicken that should help with the looseness. thats wat we used to do with kittens in the rescue wen they was poorly!

Hi,

One thing you can add to her meal is rough bran, looks like sawdust. This helped my pup a treat and once the motions are solid again (day after using bran!) stop the bran. One teaspoon mixed in with the meal. It just bulks out the motions to stop them being loose. Hope this helps. It was recommended to me by his breeder.

Hi Sharon,

Hope shes ok today - they are such a worry!!! The bran idea is a good one, I was also told a sprinkle of bran in every meal helps those dogs prone to anal gland trouble.

Keep us in touch with her progress

I always think that Plain live Yogurt is excellent for settling tummies You can give it on a regular basis, it will not do any harm.
