I have a KC ISDS registered red and white border collie bitch and as she is a farm dog and never sees the inside of a showring, and her puppies are sold for pet or farm homes, I breed her with an unregistered but pure bred black and white bc dog.
Usually the owners are happy with pickl of the litter but this year they want a stud fee. However, I have no idea what to pay them. Ten years ago I paid £70 for an ISDS KC registered dog to breed with a bitch, so what would it be now for an unregistered dog?

Anyone got any ideas?

I hope you can help.

Many thanks.

How much are they asking for?

Are you prepared to pay that?

How much do unregistered farm bred Collies go for?

I would think that it's up to the owner of the dog to decide what his stud fee is, and up to you to decide if you want to pay that.

Has this mating already taken place?

I presume this unregistered dog is eye tested ?

My ISDS BC stud dog's fee was the price of a puppy & he was only ever used on ISDS bitches & of course to register them the sire & dam have to be eye tested & both owners members of the ISDS & included in the stud fee was the cost of sending in the mating card(it was then £2 I think)

My dog was eye tested & hip scored & a trial/obedience/breed winning dog so his puppies when for around £75 this was in the 80's

Historically the fee was the price of a puppy so it would depend on how much you charge for your puppies, if you charge £100 then the stud fee would be  £100, if you charge £50 then the stud fee would be £50
