I have a 7 month old German shepard pup but as of yet, his ears hav'nt stood up yet and as I would like to breed from him, Im worried that it will put people off him.

Will they ever stand or will he stay like this forever? I have been told they should have stood a long time ago.

If any one has amy information that could help me, please contact nealveg@yahoo.com

Max's ears stood up at about 4 months - but one did occaisionally flop on a daily basis. His ears tended to be upright on a permanent basis from about 6-7 months on - is your GSD a pedigree or is there any cross blood in the mix ? I have seen pictures in GSD books of puppys at 6 months yet to lift their ears.

Hi

Are his ears showing any signs of going up at all, the can often go up and down a bit in a young dog but would have thought that by 7 months they should be up by now or at least heading in the right direction. If his ears do not go up it will most certainly stop people using him at stud as this is a very serious fault in the GSD.

Do you intend to show your boy? If you are thinking of offering his services as a stud dog he will need to do well in the ring, have all the relevant health checks done and have an excellent pedigree. Contact the breeder of your boy they should be able to help.

My Gsd's ears were still down at 6 months, he would occasionally put one up, but by the time he was 1 year old they had both gone up. Talking to the vet it seems it can take up to a year Ingrid

My Gsd Bitch was kept from a litter of 10 to breed with, and at 8 months was given to me, The actual ear is up but is dead at the top, so sometimes flops over. Was said at the time that the mother must have stood on it at birth and damaged it. They tryed allsorts to get it up, She was no good for breed standard, so I took her on and did obediance with her.
Regards
Jane.

I dont know a whole lot abot german shepherds but i though you had to brace the ears, i dunno, thats what we did with my show collie, and i know collies and shepherds are two toally different breeds but i saw on a show once someone who had their shepherds ears braced
