Hi all - can anyone recommend a spray on chewing deterrent - my 6mth old pup has discovered bits to chew in the house - thanks :)
Hi Vicki
We had the same problem when our Bichon was that age. We used a spray by Johnsons "antichew spray". It was available at the local pet shop and is colourless but they don't like the smell. We even used it on our hands and the bottom of trousers to stop the pin like teeth making contact. It worked also on the wastepaper bin which he loved to knock over then run off with bits of paper. The positive thing is it doesn't last forever, it just seems as though it is. Good luck

A friend of mine recommended clove oil and/or albas oil when
Tar's was a pup and he avoided all the chair and table legs that we covered. Nice smell too, unlike some of the sprays from the pet shops.
Hope that helps.

Vicki,
Don't assume Bitter Apple will work. One of my dogs finds it rather yummy. Whatever you use I'd recommend you offer your dog some to test the response, before you rely on it to protect your furniture.

vics vapour rub is suppossed to be good i seen that once on Richard and Judy.
Water! Aimed at pup everytime it starts to chew anything you do not wish it to - very closely followed by giving him something he is allowed to chew. I used a log for my Dober-pup during her chewing stage and she had it until recently.
Crush some chillies up and use the juice
My last dog used to love chilli - I used it to try and keep him off the kitchen work surfaces - sprinkled on the edge. Didn't work! However, with my current pup the water spray technique works a treat (not needed to try the chilli technique with her - yet). :D
