Hi all
We decided we'd go out for the day tomorrow and fancy taking the boys to the beach. Anybody know of a dog friendly beach on the east Yorkshire coast Whitby - Scarborough sort of way?
Thanks

Bit farther down but Mablethorpe has a large (well huge actually) stretch of beach that dogs are allowed on all year round, I think they're allowed on the other part (near the amusements) up until April as well. The dog friendly bit is actually straight in front of the main carpark for the beach.

Is that the bit that they have the motorbike racing on? If so it's usually on Sunday. There are quite a few in North Lincs, but that is some way down.

Maybe you can help me then. I'm going to my mum's in Preston next w/e. Anyone know where I can take Thistle to the seaside in the Blackpool area?
Jane

We have taken our dogs to Morecambe if you just want a beach, although having said that the front itself has been done up and is well worth a visit. There are some restrictions on part of the beach, but most of it is open to dogs and there is a dog friendly cafe there too owned by whippet exhibitors.

Hi Jane,
What about Formby beach. It's fantastic. Huge stretch of sand with dunes and a forest next to it. It's just below Southport. Fantastic for dogs.

Hi all
Well in the end we went to Scarborough South Bay and then down a bit to Cayton Bay. They had a fantastic time - and didn't wander off!!
They were so tired they slept the whole way back and didn't wake up until we stopped the car on the drive at home.
Success:D

What did your boys think of the sea? My dog adores all water (will dive into anything) but the first time we took him to the beach he was not impressed! I think it was because he wanted to go into the water on his own terms not have the water come to him:D Loves it now though.....

They love the sea - but don't go in too far. I did see another Cocker on the beach today and she was going in all the way to chase a big block of wood that she couldn't hold - when she was too far from her owners though she turned around and swam back to shore.
Mine love being able to charge around the beachj like idiots:D They did so well today - didn't wander too far from us at all always had us in their sights and ignored all the other dogs that were around and came back when we called. they didn;t jump up at anyone - just barked at the surfers surf boards.
