I know we have to socialise (and socialise and socialise) our Australian Shepherd puppy (when ever we finally get him home) and obviously we fully intend to, but with things that will seem scary at first to any small puppy e.g. horses do we just take the puppy up to the horse and act normal with the puppy, like we would with fireworks, or is there a special way to introduce things that would seem frightening?
Thanks
Natalie

If you act as if things are "nothing special" - no big deal - then the puppy will accept things as "normal".
I know everyone will come up and make a fuss of the little fellow (or lady) but the more experiences s/he has at the earliest age, the less phased s/he will be! Take the puppy with you to playgroup, to the station, to the bus stop, everywhere that you possibly can!

Thanks again Margot, looks like you know everything Aussie on here!
I thought that was what we were suposed to do but wanted to check, well in advance as usual!!!!
Can I let the pup meet other animals when I take him out (in my arms) before he has had all of his jabs? Or would this be the same as letting him on the floor?
