Hi.....this is a strange one I think......

I have a problem with my dog he is 10 1/2 and has three seperate occasions over the past two weeks where he is up barking and whining and scratching doors and rattling the baby gate at the bottom of the stairs through the night and it lasts about 3 - 4 hrs .......

The first night I thought he wanted the loo so got up and let him back outside...he just stands there in the garden doing nothing.....and is very reluctant to go back in the house.... he acts like he is scared
The same thing happens on each occasion....just to make sure it isn't a toilet thing I let him out the once, but he has never done anything....

I am making sure I do not talk to him when i go down...just in case it's an attention thing...but why is he doing this

Through the day he seems fine nothing obvious that would make me think he is ill at all just the occasional whine ( but he does have sore legs)....

Does anybody have any ideas?

It may be his age - a touch of Alzeimers if you like - does he appear confused (wondering why he came into a room - happens to dogs as well as humans ;))
