Topic Dog Boards / General / Dog Loo?
- By NannyOgg [gb] Date 19.04.05 18:29 UTC
I am getting a puppy in the summer and have been looking into costs etc and the various 'bits & bobs' needed and was intrigued to come across a 'dog loo'. Now, I am attracted to the idea of some kind of contraption that helps to disperse and de-oderise dog poop, particularly as my garden isn't huge. It is a dustbin like thing that goes in the ground and you put the poo in it and pour on a activator, and it degrades the poop down without odour so it diserses deep into the soil. Now, is this just a gimick, or has anyone used this product and found it effective? Feedback please?!

I also read about these things called 'pee posts' too, now what the hell do they do...?!

We used to have one, and it was a complete waste of money. :( They may be okay if you have one Yorkie or similar, but I've never heard of any good reports of them.

hi i dont know whether my advice will be any use to you but i was going to get a dog loo but changed my mind in the end i bought a cheap litter tray and placed it where my pups kept going and to my amasement they used it and still do so i thought how do i get rid so i went to my local pet shop and they do a powder you get a pretty good size container and put the waste in then sprinkle on this powder and it takes all the smell away and rots down the waste hopes this is some help to you best of luck

We used to have a dog loo and it was rubbish. After a few weeks it started to smell and the 'waste' which liquified seeped into the surrounding garden.
I have now replaced my heavy cast iron sewer grate with a light aluminium one and chuck all the dog waste down there.

We put all the dog waste in a plastic carrier bag which we then take round to the local dog bin.

I put all the dog waste in Carrier bags and put it in the wheelie bin!!! And then someone comes round and cleans my bin once a month. Simple!!!
BTW I also think dog loos are a waste of time!!!!!

Jennifer

Please could you let me know what was the powder called and who was the supplier?
Many thanks.

Have just given up on the green dog loo - have a four feet deep hole full of rocks and liquidified waste to get rid of!

I agree with Jeangenie and Animad.  It's a complete waste of money.

hi...

yes im afraid i agree aswell.... total waste of money, i had a gsd and after 2 days was bunged solid (the dog loo that is lol ) and not breaking down no matter how much activator used :-(

i planted a mine with bulbs in the end so at least it had a use :-)

I wouldn't bother wasting your money.... I tried it and what a waste of energy digging the hole.
