Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / problem with pads

hi, i have a 10yr old yorkie who 2 wks ago had a small cut underneath her foot, about 3 days later she started to nibble at her foot quite a lot and nowshe has lost nearly all the pads off that foot, ive bathed it regularly and the orignal cut has healed fine but the pads dont seem to be, she has what looks like hard skin growing over the foot, but the actual black pad is almost none existant,do i leave the hard skin on, as it could be a protectin for foot until new pads grow or do i take it off, also how long roughly will new pads take to grow back, she puts her foot down for a few steps at a time but she is usually on 3 legs at present, she has stopped nibbling her foot and doesnt seem to be in no pain apart from that she is fine. PLEASE HELP.

There is only one answer that is to go back to your vet and ask for help. It could be she has an infection which is making her foot itchy and or sore. It sounds as though you will need to get some antibiotics and inflamation treatment.
