Hi

Wondering if anyone can help

Apparently some people give there children, some sort of fish type vitamin. Which has reportedly helped improve childrens attention span

Does anyone know anything about this, and just how effective it is

Thanks

Hi
It is Omega 3 fish oil and you can get it in kids orange chewy fruit burst capsules by a well known vitamin company, not allowed to name names. I give it to my kids. There was a big study on it apparently and is now highly recommended. I am sure someone on here knows more os the scientific side. But that is definately what it is called.

I've been giving it to my 'very active' 7 year old now for nearly 6 months - at his parent teacher meeting before Easter, for the first time EVER the teacher said his reading age was no longer behind his peers, and was infact a couple of years ahead!

Im a Nursery Nurse in a school ( 4/5 year olds)  and we have a little boy in our class who was having terrible problems concetrating and with his behaviour in general, we reccomended Omega 3 to his parents, who started straight away, and there has been a marked improvement.

I think it is a great find, and i would love to slip it into every childs carton at milk time, we would have a class full of braniacs and i would be out of a job !!

Hi

Thanks everyone. Ill look into the omega.

Went to my sons parents evening last night. And while hes doing great in some areas. He's not doing so good in others. Basically he has the attention span of a gnat, Hes only 5, His teacher said, she doesnt believe. Hes ready to settle into school work. He does really well, in the creative area. But struggles, with his concentration. When it comes to sitting down, and applying himself to other areas. Like phonics, counting etc. I believe he knows more than he lets on. But when he's having an assessment, hes failing cause he cant concentrate. On what he's required to do.

He's currently known as the king of the model's, As in the afternoon when they can choose there own activity. Thats all he wants to do.

Just really wanted to see, if there was any truth to the idea of this omega.

As obviously, we want him to do his best at school.

Hi morganalfie,

You might want to consider a product called Eye Q for your little boy's concentration!

I am going through the menopause and have been taking it for quite a few months now - it has certainly helped with my fuzzy memory and concentration.

I know quite a few people who's children take it and they have found that their children's attitude and performance at school has greatly improved!

Just type Eye Q into your search engine and you will get loads of info on it!

The only down side is that it is quite expensive around £7.99 for 60 capsules - not sure how much the liquid is!
But I have seen it occasionally in Tesco's as a buy one get one free!

You might find it cheaper on the net!

Shame that it is not on the National Health - am sure loads of children and adults alike would benefit from this supplement!

Hope this has been of some help - check out the link below - I know it is about Autism - but just read the article- as it is very unbiased!

Fish Body Oils are an excellent source of Omega 3s for both humans and dogs. They are an essential fatty acid (EFA)

They are useful as an anti inflammatory eg if you have bad joints, optimise brain function (young and for the old).

If you are going to buy a product you need to ascertain the EPA and DHA (particularly the latter); some supermarket brands are low.

The best source of FBO is Healthspan, with 3 differing strengths, they are not wildly expensive and are in a non gelatine case for those who cannot swallow gelatine.

You should ensure that you offer Vitamin E, preferably natural source) as FBO can deplete levels in the body.  Again a good source is Healthspan.
