Does anyone have a unique way of talking to their dog? like as if you are talking to a baby? Its funny because I was just speaking to a friend and we both call our dogs Mackie-moo and Meggie-moo. We ask them if they want to go for sleepie-weepies. Do you congratulate your dog for doing a poo! (I do) It was some 4 weeks after getting Mack (ie-moo) when I realised that my dad and brothers all skit at me (in a nice way) about the way I speak to Mack (ie-moo)!! It is a bit embarrassing when I am out walking with Mack and I forget myself and just start chattering away to him, and of course everything ends in eee-ooo!!! Or is it just me!!?

No its not just you,its me too, lol.

good! at least I know I am sane then! (well at least to other doggie people!)
No, I'd never talk to my little Noo-Noo-Girl like that, neither would all my family and friends...and my family's friends...and my friends family... ;-)

I reckon this is not only normal and healthy but an almost essential ingredient of responsible dog ownership - they gotta feel special after all :P
I would add that in multiple dog households it's obligatory to not only have *special* ickle names and phrases for each dog but downright CRUEL if we don't adopt a *special* voice/accent for *each* one too .......... but maybe that's just me ....
Teri ;)
Yeah you're right Terri, isn't it strange how we do it, but yes my voice does change for each dog. Lastar has got a very sexy bum and he grins away and wags his tail like mad when I talk to him, it's amazing how brilliantly he's done at nearly 7 when he's come from Spain and never lived in a house before. Dogs do amaze me at times :d
OK, I have silly nicknames, well actually several, for people and hounds I am close to. My dogs have more silly names than I can even attempt to list here, but my mum's nickname has to be the worst of the human ones. I have called her 'Moo' since I was about 11.

It has also evolved into Mooland (remember the song? - 'all bound for moomooland.....), Moomin (cartoon the Moomins, Moomin Papa etc), Moomin Trude (?!don't know where that one came from) and various others. It's usually fine, most people are used to it by now, but the funniest has to be in the supermarket. If you ever hear someone in the middle of Tescos calling, 'Moo, Moo' have you got the dogs yoghurt, then yes, that's me!!! :-) It has raised several strange looks, mainly from little old ladies who think I'm being rude! :p

Oh, me too :) My boy is Remy-bum, or Bun, or Pup; my girl is Opi-Dope or Opi-bum, or Bun/Pup (I like them both answering to the same thing, helps if I get names mixed up!).
Around the house Remy is sometimes Muppet of Muffin, usually if he's being daft.
I had my sister's Chi pup for 24 hours a few weeks back, his name is monkey - I started calling him Monkey-Moo without thinking about it and damned if I could stop myself!!
Ohh gillie i've got a meggie moo! Shes also called moo moo, miss moo, moo, pudge and occaisionally just palin old megan, meg and meggie. (all said in compulsory silly high pitched voice! ) I also have an ellie, ellie belly, belly, bill, bou, and elle. (again silly voice.)
Last but not least we have Murphy, irish rescue springer so name must be said in compulsory irish accent! Also called, murph, smurphy and mr smurf. Me, odd? DOn't know what your talking about?! ;-)
