I have two Siberian Huskies aged four and one. The older one is brilliantly trained and i'm definitely thinking of going on to working him. But, the young dog is a pain in the neck. We took him on after his previous owners couldn't keep him and he is cross-eyed. As far as we know there are no sight problems. I'm obviously going to start training him asap but does anyone have any info on whether i should think about working a cross-eyed husky.
I think if you take on a Sibe you should expect to take on a "pain in the neck". I have 2 bitches the mother is almost 8 and a "pain in the neck" the younger 1 who is almost 3 is very well behaved for a Sibe. Tell me are you planning to keep this dog even if hes untrainable.
Of course I'm going to. I've had my older one since he was eight weeks old, he's now five and I do Obedience with him so if I managed to train him then I can definitely train Alpha. The question I asked was whether anybody has any information about working a cross-eyed dog! He's an absolute star and really needs the exercise because his previous owners didn't really care for him or his sister so the best thing I can do is give him the best home. And he has that for sure!
Ok good for you to take on an unwanted dog. Sorry I cant be of any help to you on this maybe someone else can help you. Good luck.
Thanks! I need all the luck I can get with him!
A friend of mine has got a cross-eyed Collie, who we nicknamed Clarence! (Some of you may remember the cross-eyed lion called Clarence, can't recall what telly programmed he was on now.) Anyway, she competed in 'B' with him in obedience and he didn't have any problems, although who knows how many sendaway markers he could see! :D

Has anyone got any links to show me what "cross eyed" is. Is it a breed fault. Sorry to be dim - this is the 1st time I have heard of it.
thanks,
Aimi.

Cross-eyed is when the eyes look towards the middle instead of straight ahead. To see what it's like, stare at your finger as you move it towards your nose.

To answer your question, no you won't have any problems with working him. Usually the pain in the neck ones are the best workers too!

Hi Keira
just read on your other post that he is not KC reg. Just in case you didn't know, you won't be able to race him with the majority of organisations in the UK in that case, but you can of course still run him for fun, I'm sure he'll love it (most of them do!)
