can anybody help me? We have a husky who is not very good at being off her lead and will not come back however much you try! We have just come back from a holiday in Nolfork where we found an enclosed field with a 6 foot fence all round. She loved being off her lead and was shattered when it was time to go. I would love to take her to one now we are home but cant find one does anybody know of a place. Please help.

Hi Guest,
Why don't you join - it doesn't take much longer to do than posting your question in the first place :) Also, although you have left contact details, you've not given any indication as to where you are located - so not much help to anyone providing details of enclosed areas .....
I think there are quite a few husky owners on here who may be able to offer you general advice on the breed and would be happy to share info.
Regards, Teri ;)
Please someone correct me if I am wrong, but Huskies are trained to go away from your voice, as in pulling sledges etc so they are notorious for running away or not coming back when let off the lead. I was told by an owner once that you should never let them off the lead unless they are enclosed.
Saying that, I am sure you will be able to find somewhere suitable for your huskie to have a good play and run. lets hope someone on here knows of somewhere near you. They are truley a lovely breed.

Hi Tigerlilly,
The guest posted because she already knows she can't get her dog to come back when off lead and is looking for advice on where an enclosed area is :P - hopefully she'll join and help narrow down the location a bit :D
regards, Teri
I didn't know if she knew why he wasn't very good off the lead, I was also looking to find out if I was told that info correctly or not. And I also said I hoped someone would come on and help her out finding somewhere. I wasn't trying to be nasty or patronising at all. Maybe I shouldn't have said anything, sorry if I have caused offence.

Woops, my fault - wasn't telling you off Tigerlilly - sorry if it came across like that :(
I've met lots of people with huskies mainly who exercise them by racing them. I think some have their own fenced off land but as far as I'm aware it's instinctive for the breed not to come back. You may well be right about that being a natural response to the voice coming from behind them - I don't know why for sure either

(will have to re-read my posts before I hit send I think ;) )
No worries Teri, we all do it, but I think we should all read our posts before hitting the send button. The last thing I want to do is offend anyone and likewise it is really not nice to be on the receiving end. I have PM you, or just about to! :)

Myself and a few other people I know rent an enclosed field off a farmer £8 for 3-4 hrs as Abby cant be trusted off lead, the rest of the time she is exercised on a lunge line.
