My girl is 9 months old.  She has been socialized since she was 3 months old.  She has never cared for strangers touching her.  We do work obedience and I take her somewhere a couple of times a week.  She will sneak up to strangers and take any food they might offer but she is terrified of people reaching out to her.  Needless to say this makes it quite impossible in the show ring.  We are currently working stand stays in crowed places at least 20 ft from the people.  She will do this but shows anxity.  On Saturday, at her obedience class she will let anyone she knows slightly go over her but never a stranger.  In all other situations she is fairly confident.  As soon as the judge is done with her she will put her tail up a gait wonderfully.  I've never had a dog before that doesn't like people.  Any suggestions?

Has she had a season yet ? My Champion beardie had horrific treatment from a vet at 18 weeks old(got an official apology from him after I went to the BVA about him)she went from being happy to be handled to being sh*t scared of men & as she approached her seaon she wouldn't let anyone at all go over her

I went to a homoeopath for natural remedies for her & at his suggestion got someone else(a young 13 year old girl)handle her, it was like having another dog Heidi took the good vibes from her handler & the remedies helped her chill out.

If I were you I would try some T Touch massage on her & think about getting someone who she likes to handle her, yu might want to try some natural remedies like skullcap & valarian drops for her

I have the opposite problem with my cavaliers especially one as he is OTT & has taken to trying to leap into the judges arms off the table, I have got some new natural remedies from Doreen Paige that she lauched at Crufts & he certainly was calmer at the UK Toy Dog Ch Show
