I don't know if the spelling of the breed is right but I need to ask a question ofn behalf of a friend who doesn't own a computer.
My friend has a 5 month old dog who is constantly mounting dogs, bitches and even my friends wife. He thought this was rather frunny at first but now he's at his wits end as to what to do to prevent this.
He phoned the breeder and asked advice and the answer was "Just punch him" charming!!!!!!
I know a lot will think it's perfectly normal behaviour but this is obviously a huge dog that has his little wife pinned down on the sofa the other day so some practical advice is needed as obviously the breeder is useless.
It isn't castrated as yet.
This is always a problem when puppies do somehting which, if the dog was bigger, wouldn't be funny, but people think its cute and laugh there fore giving the dog attention, I believe certain 'rules' should be applied from day one.
Our 4 month old HWV already has the 'thrusting'thing going pretty good and our younger HV is a complete hussy, despite being spayed and never having being mated or had a litter, she just is :D She will 'offer' herself upto Idõ, but a quick 'no' in a stern voice always works, funnily enough he never tries to 'hump' any of us, or our other HV bitch(granted she won't let him with 5 feet of her!)
I was advised by is breeder not to make a big deal out of it, he used to try and mount my arm sometimes when he was younger ], wgile playing, I simply ignored and distracted him and it worked a treat, now saying 'no' workes and he just moves onto the next thing, so agina, a huge deal is not made out of it.
I'm sorry I can't be of more help, our little guy is only about 13/14kg at the mo so we are nipping it in the bud before he is too big, I hope someone with more advice will be along soo :)
Emily
PS I certainly wouldn't advocate punching him, I hope this advised is ignored, what a load of toot as JG would say(sorry JG, it cracks me up evry time I read it :D)!!!
