I have a 6 month old deaf boxer pup.  (Angel)  She eat all the time but for some reason I can't get any weight on her.  She's so lanky but she's tall. I feed her atleat 5 times a day just to try and get weight on her but it doesn't work.  I've even wormed her 2 times.  Poor Angel......Anyone have any advise for her.?
Thanks, Melissa

My old boxer looked very lanky at that age and a little skinny. I had concerns so I got him weighed at the vet and he was a perfect weight

Sometimes with young Boxers it does take awhile for them to fill out.
Some Boxers don't fill out until 18 months and older.

With a white Boxer and also sometime's a red Boxer they can look leaner than the
Brindle this more often than not can be down to optical illusion.
A couple of my white pups looked lean but they were fine, their owners vets gave thme clean bills of health etc

If you are really concerned you can always take her to the vet and ask them to do some
tests if they feel she's not putting on wieght.

A friends Boxer dog, under 16 months old couldn't seem to put any weight on, was very active
but it didn't matter what they tried he just wouldn't put weight on. So they asked their vet to blood test
him and it turns out he had an over active thyroid. So he was put on daily medication and is fine, bodied up etc.

Hope Angel is ok and don't stress too much, it's so easy to make them fussy eaters.
I'm battling with one of mine at the moment she's 14 mos old and a fussy madam but I'm not
going to let her win....made that mistake once with my first Boxer and never again!

Best of Luck
Kirstine :)

Hi i had a dobermann as a chiild he wouldnt put on weight it werent a healthy skinnynous with the ribs covered and a waistline his ribs where showing anyway we took him to the vets and his food was to rich for him the vet advised wafcol at the time some 18 yrs ago and boy it didnt arf help him the other food just went straight through him although most big dogs do have a lanky stage where theyre all legs but its best to decide if its a healthy weight as underweight is as bad as being over weight   frank

So long as she is still growing and not a total skeleton, ie emaciated, i wouldnt panic.

She has another 6 months at least of upwards growing to do, and she really DOESTN need to be carrying any extra weight whilst she does that, that will only damage her joints and muscles.

Sorry frank, but thats rubbish, overweight is FAR FAR worse than slightly underweight, especially in a young dog who has plenty of growing left to do!
*(i do mean SLIGHTLY underweight, i do NOT mean starved!)

It is freqently tempting to push dogs to look like miniature adults at 6 mnths old, they should not do, they CANT achieve proper muscle tone and weight until around 2 years old, more in bigger breeds. Any weight you get on a 6 month old will just be fat, and no animal needs large amunts of fat to carry around. Also if you over feed you may well just make her more bouncy and hyperactive, which again wont do her any good.
