Thanks for all those who posted links to dog web name sites. Bit concerned now as they have their new puppy (lab) however they told me today it is 7 weeks old tommorow. It was being taken to the horses yard today (only arrived home late last night) and am biting my tongue so to speak. Is it me or is that a bit early to be leaving mum, also to be being dragged here there and everywhere. Sorry to moan but it now seems that this puppy is being treated a bit like the new car, to be shown off.

I'd be happy to take a puppy at 7 weeks Lisa but i think it rather depends on the persons experience. If the person is inexperienced I would prefer 8 or even 9 weeks. Those extra weeks make so much difference at that age. Also, although I like to get a puppy out as soon as possible to see the big wide world I want it to be relaxed with me first and that means getting to know me. 3 or 4 days time would be plenty early enough in my opinion. But then, others may well disagree about that.

Regards, John

Thanks for that John, must admit I became worried as first they wanted a weim then suddenly changed their minds to a lab. Next thing they are picking one up even thought they are moving house in 2 weeks. Don't get me wrong I know this pup is very much wanted however with hindsight wish I had opened my mouth (ok this will amaze some) and suggested they wait at least until they had moved house.

Haven't seen him yet but they have called him Benson, suppose I just want to make sure all they are doing is ok and seeing as most of my dogs came to me at over 3 months (6 in the grotbags case and even 14 months in the Champion Zig Zaggers case) was a little unsure.

Would a 2yrl old in Jun Choc Lab be too old for you John, being the wonderful lab trainer we've all come to know you as, she's very good at the retrieve........honest, just shoot a kitchen cupboard door or door frame though :)
