Hi

She sounds like a normal newfie to me! They do not realise just how big they are, she sounds like she is just having fun, lots of puppies mouth and bit and she may be trying to help you with the washing. :-)
Now you need to realise why she does these things only when your husband is out... i guess she is his dog and he is the alpha in the house, if so you need to copy his behaviour towards your girl, treat her in the same way that your husband treats her.
I know she is a big dog but you are still strong enough to control her, does she know sit and down comands? if so can you use these when you are in the kitchen with her?

Often with pups of this age behaviour such as this is usually something which the owner is inadvertently training the dog to do... for example i visited a family who had a 9 month pup - they were having problems with him playing in the living room - particularly at 6.00pm.  Well first thing every one is home at six and they are all in the living room, second thing the living room is full of his toys, you can imagine that from a young age this pup had been played with every evening at 6.00pm, problem was now he is 9 stone and the family don't think its so funny.

Go back to basics with the pup and retrain her, copy the methods your husband uses and you'll be fine.

PS she will be boystrous like this for the next 12 - 18 months, you must get on top of your training now, and you must asert yourself in the pecking order in the family.

Sounds a handfull! Remember, if you cant cope with her, dont let your husbands amusment turn to a big problem for you. If you are really scared of her, and cant cope with her, then ask the breeder to take her back. Living with a dog should be a pleasure, if you are going to get hurt...I take a dim view of a 9 mth puppy 'mouthing'...then now is the best time for the pup to go back, before the minor problems get big ones. reinforced training is all well and good, if you feel confident to do it. But if not, then dont, it wont work. Be better for all for the pup to find a new home. How much time did the breeder spend with you explaining the traits of this breed?
