not wishing to seem stupid but i was just reading some of the questions under this topic and read the one called has any one heard of this it is about a dog having a reaction to the booster injection and the answers seem to seem as this is a problem if thats so why have the booster done why put your dog at risk after all we dont have yearly injections after child hood so long as your pup has had its first vac's done is it worth the risk of yearly vac's

Some human vaccinations do need boostering.  Not everyone thinks the risk of boostering dogs outweighs the risk of the diseases they help prevent.  You may find this link useful in giving a little information in support of this arguement I am sure there will be plenty of posts to redress the balance in support of not boostering :) but for me, personally I will continue to follow veterinary advise on the frequency of when to vaccinate.

We haven't done in over 20 years.  My friends who do booster are the ones who've unfortunately ended up with Parvo etc. in their homes.  We stopped because we were losing young Pomeranians at their first vaccinations and didn't want to go through losing older dogs too.  Yeah, we've been very lucky and I presume live in an area where there are not high numbers of these diseases although I'm shocked at this as a number of dogs do roam the streets.

We did start using the dead vaccine on our Pomeranian's and have done now for a number of years and touch wood we've not lost any pups like we used to do a number of years ago which was so heartbreaking.

Hi Ann

You could use a Phytovet Oral Vaccine.
Which you can get in a Liquid Form or Powder Form.
Kennel-Cough...Canine Combination...Tetanus
Safe and kind with no side affects.

The only problem you may find is if your dog goes into Kennels.

Some accept the Herbal & Homeopathic Vacc some don't.

You have to give details of dog/age/type as this is recorded and you get a card to fill in every month as you give the preparation.

Hope this helps.

Our Bichon is one year old now and he won't be having any boosters at all.  He only started his scratching when he was 16 weeks old, just two weeks after his last puppy injection although I don't know whether this had anything to do with it at all.   My sister and I have had numerous dogs in the past and have never boostered them and they have all lived to good ages (except my GSD who was only nearly 6 and got Anal Furunclosis)   I have never put a dog in kennels though and won't be doing in the future.
