Has anyone tried the treats made by Pedigree that contains green lipped mussel for joints.  Can you notice a difference in mobility? My Scampi is'nt to keen on them does any one know of a different product that contains green lipped mussel?

Thanks Caz

I used to give capsules from Holland and Barrett to my Dandie.  I'm sure it helped in the milder stage of her athritis, although I think any fish oils will help and there is certainly research evidence to support this, but was not so helpful later when it became more severe.

I'm afraid I don't rate anything by Pedigree.  I suspect there will only be a tiny portion of green lipped mussel in any treats they produce and would tend to wonder if it would still be effective after all the processing and cooking they've gone through.

However, Green Lipped Mussel can do wonders for mobility with arthritis etc.    I used Runaround by Stock Nutrition for my old girl with amazing results.  Runaround also has Shark Cartilage and Vits C&E.  www.doghealth.co.uk    There are increasing companies marketing GLM nowadays  (Green Lipped Mussel can be bought in Chemists for humans under brandname Seatone.)

Other supplement worth considering is Glucosamine.  It's a case of finding the right one for your dog...

I find getting it from somewhere like holland and barret much cheeper and easier.  I would rather give them tablets in their meal then extra treats.

Our old boy is on glucosomine, just to help prevent anything that will come with old age.  our young girl who has shallow hip sockets and therefore already has signs of artheritus is on something supplied by our vet, as to us that is more serious as she is only 3 years old.

Another reason for health checks! :(

Thanks everyone for that info I'll give Holland & Barrett a try.
