I switched my Beagle pup over to Burns (mini bites) from hills about 3 weeks ago. since then she has been quite ichy?? Could it be the mini bites or Burns in general. Any opinions greatly recieved!!
Thanks Alyson  xx

err. ichy as in "sicky" or just itchy?
- By peacebabe [gb] Date 19.03.05 15:48 UTC
Oh yeah sorry, ITCHY as in nibbling herself and scratching!!

is her skin looking sore? is she up to date with flea treatments.? it could be the burns but burns is usually good
- By peacebabe [gb] Date 19.03.05 16:21 UTC
No her skin looks fine and yes both cat and dog are up to date with flea treatments!!

how old is she? the protien level in minibites is low for a puppy food so i wouldnt think it would be that. she could not be agrreeing with one of the ingredients (how are the poos)?
i would ring up burns & ask them,or look on their website, & see what they suggest.

do beagles have many skin probs?(as a breed?)
could she just be too hot?
she could just be an itchy dog?

have you washed her bed recentlky? or done anything to the carpets?

She is nearly 6 months old,and her poos are really hard. No change to washing powders and wooden floors everywhere so no change there!! No problems with the breed that i know of!!
Thank you so much for your help!!

Idõ was raised on the mini bites and we have just ordered our first bag of the Canine extra which he will be switched onto next week, he will be 4 months on the 30th of this month. We are following his breeders advice re food, plus the girls are on Burns and its suits us, we expect he will be on the Canine extra until we think he had stopped growing :D The he'll be switched over to the lamb and rice adult which is what the girlies eat.
Hope this helps,
Emily

Burns is very low in oil,is it not? I would try adding salmon oil  to his food and give vitE capsules or wheatgerm oil.

Hills spray their kibble with fats to make them more palatable for dogs,so the dogs will eat it :( Which burns does not do.

In my opinion EVERY dog no matter what it is being fed should be given fish oil, preferably salmon oil,it has many health giving benefits, one of them being good skin health :)
