I got max from someone that could not handle him. He is a black German shepherd 2 years old. He was in a house for that two years , Very thin, never been on a lead . I got a gentle walker and we are getting there. Never been with other dogs so he goes mad when he sees one. we are going to classes but their is 10 to 12 dogs and I get stressed as its a fight to hold him back. He will not do as you want when Im in their.I am not going to give up on him. he's not a bad dog just like a very big puppy. We only walk late at night when all good dog's are in bed

Hi Guest,

Well done you for taking Max on :P  He's a lucky boy.

That's when you meet all the REALLY problem dogs :(  Better to have him well socialised with nice friendly dogs so stick with the classes and work towards trying to have him out and about in *normal* daylight hours ;)

Why not join and you can share some more about him?
Regards, Teri  :)

Only joking but can't you change his name there was a poster with a GSD called Max a few years ago who was a real handful :D

Keep up the training, and se if you can get expereinced GSD trainers help.  Training and socialisation will take time,a dn often it will be a step forward and oen back, but he is young yet (it is never to late to train any dog) and with firmnes and kindness you will bring him round.  Do not give up :D

Well done to you, I took back a GSD my father bred He was great with GSDs but as he had been in a breeders kennels he had never seen anything other than GSDS. I was lucky in that I have been a dog trainer for years but it took me a while to find out what got his total attention so I could use it to reward him

I do advise people with probelm GSDs to check out their nearest BAGSD branch as they all have trainers who have GSDs & who have been trained & passed examinations training GSDs. If you can find out what your dog ready loves like a ball or special treat it will help with his training as you can use it to get his attention & reward him

you are his angel, bringing him home from where he was is just like bringing home a new puppy, no training, but if you dont give up neither will he. and the more he sees you are good to him the better he will start to be on you cause he will do whatever it takes to please u as much as you have pleased him
