My westie is a lovely dog but some 3 months ago he was attacked by a Dalmation who was off his lead. Things havent been the same since! Whenever he sees another big dog he gets down on his tummy and sort of walks on the floor with his tummy flat to the ground (try to picture a sheepdog with his flock!). I know that his thoughts are that the best form of defence is attack, but he gets alot of dirty looks from dog owners; they assume that he is about to attack! What can I do to help him get over his fears? By the way he loves to see any other westie or little terrier type dog.

My friends westie does this but as they approach either with or without a dog Iona lies out flat legs stretched out and keeps her head down until they have walked past. She is a brill natured dog who was brought up on a farm who now lives in the city so we put it down to fear of the unknown and she is getting better.

Bless her! You cant imagine what is going on in their minds at the time, can you? By the way I love the name Iona!
