Gosh this is my third post today, I guess I am making up for time whilst having been away. We have been in Australia for 3 weeks visiting family so Desi went to the pet sitter. I called from Australia to check that everything was alright and was reassured by hearing what a good girl Desi was being. Yesterday on our return from Oz It was quite a different story, I called the pet sitter to arrange to pick Desi up in the evening, at which point she told me that it had been very difficult for her looking after Desi as she suffered a whiplash injury in her car whilst parked a week and a half ago and since that time she had not been able to walk Desi properly due to her bad pulling on the lead etc.
Naturally I felt bad for her having such a shock and injury but when we picked up Desi last night she had clearly over 3 weeks put on a lot of weight and was so full of energy that I feel that she really didn't get much exercise at all, not only that but I provided her with a lot of food which had all gone and I think she was overfed and given treats that she is not allowed, when I particularly supplied anything she could have. I am very upset about all of this as I left the pet sitter with my number in Australia and lots of contact numbers here should there be a problem and I could have sorted it all out straight away. Also we had booked her for Easter weekend which she can't now do and I had a crazy time yesterday looking for a new pet sitter.
I had to write about this as I am so upset about the weight that Desi has put on that if I write it down I feel better.
My other problem is this, I got a new halti for desi today the one that clips around the top of the neck. She really hates it and tries and tries to rub it off and jumps all over the place with it on. On her walk to the park just now she managed to get it off and half into her mouth and would you believe it had almost torn right through.
Can anybody recommend what is the best halti to get for a labrador as this one clearly was not strong enough and also how can I get her used to it????
Thanks so much sorry for all the questions today

Spock hated the halti when I first put it on him. It took him wearing it around the house and getting lots of 'special' treats. I let him wear it (on and off) for a couple of days before I actually walked him with it. Having something around the face isn't normal, just something they have to get used to which takes wearing it and time. :) I used the actual Halti, I'm sure there are others that may be better for your lab if he's able to wriggle out of the one you got him.
On the pet sitter note...that's terrible to come home to. Take comfort in the fact that it's only 3 weeks worth of weight and you'll be able to get it back off of him with his normal routine. :)
