I was on the web trying to get some breed info, and came across your website, which is fab, by the way.

I had the most miserable day today.  I had my third Shiba die from cancer at 10.15 this morning, and I now only have the one left.  I lost Mishu first, then Bumble, and this morning, Bumble's one and only pup Ted.  He was the oldest one I have ever had - both Mishu and Bumble went at nine - Ted would have been 10 in two months.

Has anyone ever heard of cancer being a health risk in Shibas or am I just the unluckiest person living.

I now have just Roxy (black and tan) left, and she is nine this month, so I am interested in a rescue dog (Roxy is spayed) if anyone can recommend one.

Thank for any responses/advice you can give.

I own a shiba and am in the process of waiting for a rescue. I know the lady who runs shiba rescue so if you would like to contact me I will be able to give you her contact details.
She is also a well respected breeder of long standing and will be able to advise you of any problems withn the breed.
