I dont know anything about dogs but have a quiz question i need to find the answer to. Please can you tell me what breed of dog has developed from crossing a Standard French Poodle with an English pointer?
Many thanks

None as the Poodle is not french ;):D  It was originally a German Gundog &  Poodle is the English corruption  of Pudel or Puddlen meaning puddle dog or one that likes splashing in water. In France they are Caniche or Duck dog. They were used to retrieve game from water ;) I hope that is correct I know there are Poople peeps on here to correct me if I am mistaken re the Poodle

Perhaps you mean The Pudelpointer  ? Again a German breed This dog originated from Water Poodle and Pointer. The Water Poodle descended from the Water Spaniel (Polish Water Dog) His origin was Germany and the first cross of field Pudel to an English Pointer was in 1881. The sire was an English pointer by the name of Tell belonging to Kaiser Frederick III; the dam Molly was owned by Hegewald or Baron Von Zedlitz was his true name. Hegewald was his pen name. Born in 1838 died in1903. The pudelpointer is a strong hunter with a very keen sense of smell. German Wirehair Pointers with strong influence of this breed in their line are bold and keen to hunt their colour is brown and ranges from dark to light and occasionally black. This breed is longer in back than the Wirehair. But still being a leggy breed, not the substance in body as the Stichelhaar. Pudelpointer has a great love for the water.
