i am thinking of having my dog castrated but have heard lots of different stories will it really calm him down ! i have also been told to put him to stud then have him done , if you think this is a good idea how do i go about putting our dog to stud !!!!

If you are going to have you male castrated DO NOT let him sire pups first....it is far kinder to not let him 'taste the honey' so to speak.If you want to use your male at stud please read the first post no the breeding board

Using a dog at stud isn't to be taken lightly! Once he's mated he'll be very keen to repeat the experience, and castrated dogs can still mate and tie with bitches!

How old is he? Adolescent dogs, like adolescent boys, have enormous amounts of testosterone coursing through their bodies, and so are quite hyper. But this eases off (in dogs as well as humans!) and they naturally steady up and become civilised as they mature.
