my vet recommended to soak cotton wool in cool water, squeeze excess off then wipe just the parts you can see but ive also heard of people using olive oil although never tried this as cotton wool and cool water does the trick for my bitch, be careful not to have cotton wool too wet as it tends to drip into ear and cause them to shake ears and scratch. I've always found baby oil to be one of the best cleaners around. Put plenty on a wad of cotton wool or even straight into the ear, and wipe round as much of the ear as you can get to. should be easy with lovely big ears on a Bullmastiff :D Then wipe it all dry with clean cotton wool. Use different wads for each ear
